2017-2018 Math Contest Summary

Ohio Math League

After all six Ohio Math League contests, Revere placed sixth in Ohio and first in Summit County, just one point ahead of Hoban.  Drake Du, Rohit Dasanoor, Victoria Liu, Will Krew, Jason Fan, Goodman Li, and Karl Godard were ranked 15th, 21st, 27th, 36th, 41st, 48th, and 48th in Ohio.  The top sophomore, freshman, 7th grader, and sixth graders were Michael Tomechko, Lance Choi, Philip Liu, Andy Long, and Neal Pannala.

Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics and OHMIO

In the OCTM contest, Revere placed 11th in Ohio and first among schools our size in the Saturday contest.  The top four students were Drake Du (31st), Will Krew (51st), Rohit Dasanoor (78th), and Jack Krew (102nd).  The top senior, sophomores, and freshman were Alexa Shin (116th), Chaitanya Annamreddi, Samantha Ma, and Lance Choi (116th).  Our top four students qualified for the Ohio High School Mathematics Olympiad in Columbus on March 31.  Rohit and Drake attended. Drake’s mixed team placed second at the OHMIO.

Mu Alpha Theta Log1 Contest

In the Log1 contest, Revere placed 10th in our region, which is one-fourth of the United States.  Freshmen Lance Choi and Abhay Adury placed 30th and 40th respectively in their division in our region.  Others contributing to the team score were Eric An, Chaitanya Annamreddi, Angelo Bucci, Tiger Du, Meha Elango, Jason Fan, Karl Godard, Joshua Johns, Rachel Kraus, Jack Krew, Goodman Li, Victoria Liu, Jacob Roose, and Sam York.  I believe that Drake Du and Rohit Dasanoor would have been 3rd and 26th in their division if scores of 8th graders were permitted.

American Mathematics Competition & AIME

The top scores for the AMC 12B were earned by Victoria Liu, Jack Krew, and Tiger Du.  The top senior was Angelo Bucci. The top scores for the AMC 10B were earned by Rohit Dasanoor, Will Krew, and Drake Du.  The top sophomores and freshman were Keri Tomechko, Samantha Ma, and Lance Choi. Unfortunately, no one qualified for the AIME contest.

Purple Comet Math Meet

In the Purple Comet Math Meet, the first place team of Jack Krew, Tiger Du, Aayush Bansal, Drake Du, Will Krew, and Jared Madarang answered 16 of the 30 questions correctly and finished third in Ohio. The team of Lance Choi, Tyra Shin, Joshua Johns, Sarisha Mahajan, Abhay Adury, and Rohit Dasanoor placed second. Nine Revere teams participated in this contest.

In the TrigStar trigonometry contest, Rohit Dasanoor had a perfect score, and William Branch placed second with a 94%.  Michael Tomechko finished third. Rohit’s entry goes on to the state competition.

Math Madness

In Math Madness, Goodman Li, Tiger Du, Rohit Dasanoor, Jason Fan, and Drake Du placed 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 4th, and 5th for Revere respectively. The top sophomore and freshman were DJ Donich and Lance Choi.

MathCON and MathCON Finals

Six RHS students, Jack Krew, Tiger Du, Abhay Adury, Lance Choi, Samantha Ma, and Angelo Bucci have qualified for the MathCON Finals in Chicago on May 5th.  Two other RHS students, Victoria Liu and Matthew Zhou, were named as alternates. At the MathCON finals, Rohit, Drake, and Will earned gold, silver, and silver medals.  Jack and Tiger earned Honorable Mention.

Youngstown State University Math Fest

Goodman Li and Jason Fan finished 2nd and 3rd in the Challenge of the Champions.

Rocket City Math League Interschool Test

Revere placed 26th out of 141 teams in the country.  It was fun for all of us to work together as one big team.  In the junior division (grades 6-9), Revere placed 22nd out of 33 teams.

American Regions Mathematics League

Ohio selects three teams of math all-stars to attend a competition at Penn State University every year.  The following students were invited to join or practice with the Ohio ARML teams: Victoria Liu, Jack Krew, Drake Du, Will Krew, and Rohit Dasanoor.  Were you invited also? Tell Mrs. Gillette.
