Revere Staff Members Recognized for Excellence During Staff Convocation Day

Three Revere Local Schools staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to students, colleagues and the district during the district’s annual Staff Convocation Day on Friday, August 21.

Michelle George, an elementary teacher at Bath Elementary School, and Dawn Cancelliere, a social studies teacher at Revere Middle School, were named recipients of the Revere Schools Recognition for Teacher Excellence Award. Phil Tacke, head custodian at Revere High School, was recognized as the OAPSE Employee of the Year.

The Revere Schools Recognition for Teacher Excellence Award was established in December 2008 by Revere residents Christopher and Gigi Kostoff to recognize outstanding educators for their commitment to Revere students. Each year, teachers may be nominated by fellow staff members, students, parents or guardians, and district residents. A selection committee reviews the nominations and selects two recipients based on their demonstrated effectiveness, commitment to students, creativity and innovation, leadership, and positive impact on student learning.

The OAPSE Employee of the Year Award recognizes a Revere staff member who provides extraordinary service to the district. OAPSE represents Revere’s transportation, custodial, maintenance and nutrition services staff. Each year, fellow staff members have the opportunity to nominate an OAPSE member whose dedication, service and commitment to Revere make a meaningful difference to students, staff and the district.
